Vision and Aims

Our thriving school, at the centre of our community, offers the opportunities of a large school within a small school, and a supportive learning environment. Every child is known and respectfully treated as an individual, with their strengths and talents celebrated and nurtured to support them in reaching their full potential. Through a clear set of shared learning behaviours, children’s progress and achievement is at the heart of everything we do.

Learning Behaviours

The Pirton 6Rs are our Learning Behaviours. These are referenced in our Behaviour Policy and are also embedded into our assemblies. Our Monday assemblies focus on the 6Rs or the school Golden Rules (Be safe, Be kind, Be positive).  Our Friday Celebration Assemblies reward and recognise children who have demonstrated these behaviours for learning. Please see the “Celebrate” section of our website for recent recipients.

School History

Our original school building was opened in 1877. However, formal education in Pirton began before this, growing out of the early straw plaiting schools which were started locally to meet the demands of the hat making industry, centred in Luton and Dunstable.

The school community is proud of high achievement in an engaging setting, where children are excited, motivated and inspired by the outstanding learning opportunities they encounter.

Through a culture of excellence, built upon our school values, everyone will be able to fully succeed, develop and grow.
