It’s Christmas!!! 6th December 2024

We are into December!  Our tree is up, the home corner is awash with tinsel and we are loving our class advent calendar.

We have learned about The Nativity this week, this included listening to the story from the Bible, going to the church with Miss Bates and our reading volunteers, learning carols, playing with the characters and painting the stable.

We also learnt the final letters of the alphabet this week so all our new sounds from now on will be diagraphs and trigraphs.

In maths we have been learning the properties of squares and rectangles, we explored folding rectangles to make paper snowflakes for our windows.  We also used rectangles to make paperchains to decorate our room.  We now understand that if a four sided shape has two sides longer than the other two it is a rectangle.

Mrs Cruise helped us to use a palm drill to make holes in slices of wood, we then drew Christmas symbols on them and gave them a bit sparkle with glitter before hanging them on our tree.  We will bring them home in the final week!

On Friday we had fun going to Elfridges, thanks to all the parents that helped make this special event happen.

Finally, we have been working hard to learn the songs and actions for our Christmas Sing-A-Long, we can’t wait for you to see it.  And we had the best attendance again!!!
