We have had an exciting week in Wrens learning about Chinese and Lunar New Year. Did you know this year is the year of the dragon? We made lanterns, drums and lucky money envelopes. We also tried some Chinese food. At the end of the week we did a quiz to find out what we know about this celebration and we got a perfect score!
Perfect was one of our Drawing Club words this week. The story we focussed on was Goldilocks, she wanted a perfect bowl of porridge. We used ‘one more’ to magic her an extra bowl so she didn’t have to eat baby bear’s. Our goldilocks was kind and respectful.
In PE this week we applied our learning about Chinese and Lunar New Year to our learning about dancing, we did the dragon dance and the lion dance.
Our sounds this week were z and zz, we worked hard to remember that z goes at the start of words and zz goes in the middle and at the end. The goldilocks in our story had a magic zip that made her zig-zag and zoom through the forest to the bear’s house.
Another exciting thing that happened this week was Mrs Parson’s brought her snowboard to school, we all had a go on it. It was such fun. It was interesting to learn about something one of our grown-ups does when they are not at school. Remember we celebrate outside achievements at Pirton. Please add to your child’s home learning book about their wow moments from home. Children are also welcome to bring certificates and medals to share in Celebration assembly on a Friday.
