It has been such a fun happy day in Wrens today as we celebrated our RE learning all about Weddings. Everyone came to school dressed up, the children all looked amazing and I hope they felt special in their smart clothes!
We took part in lots of activities throughout the day. We wrote wedding invitations to our friends, painted wedding cakes and designed wedding dresses. We practised our fine motor skills by threading pasta onto string to make necklaces and beads onto pipe cleaners to create our own bracelets and rings. Some of us used this as an opportunity to create patterns. We loved decorating our own mini wedding cakes with gooey icing, marshmallows and tiny heart sprinkles!
We dressed up with veils, tiaras, bouquets of flowers and top hats and played out having a wedding. We were very surprised to find we had an unexpected visitor at our wedding in the Wrens garden – a frog! This caused so much excitement! Mrs Woodward and a friend from Swifts kindly took the frog to the forest school / pond area to keep him safe. This led us to talk about the story ‘The princess and the frog’ – we were quite relieved our frog did not want a kiss!
After lunch we had a lovely circle time as we passed around the bunch of roses and took turns to listen and share our ideas about what makes a good friend, and what promises we might make to each other in friendship and during weddings. The children had some fantastic thoughts.
We finished our Wedding Day with a little party, we danced to music and popped bubbles in the magic of a disco light!
Thank you Wrens for a brilliant day 🙂
