A busy, brilliant week in Wrens

It has been another busy week in Wrens and the children are ready for half term!

We have continued our learning around Autumn – counting conkers, making apple pie in the mud kitchen and reading Owl Babies. The children loved cutting out pictures from the Owl Babies story, and sequencing them to make a story map. We have also painted our own Owls and acted out the story with our friends on the stage outside. We created our own Autumn trees using cotton buds or our fingers to paint autumn leaves onto branches. These look wonderful and we will display them in our lovely classroom! In Forest school we worked together as a team to create a hedgehog house. Back in the classroom we used mini mash to design our own spiky hedgehogs, the children are already learning how to use the smartboard to create their own work and save in their online trays.

In Maths we have focused in on numbers 1,2 and 3 deepening our understanding of the value of these numbers and how we can represent them. Please continue this at home if you can – use anything you have to count and show the value of the number. We read Goldilocks and the 3 bears, which helped consolidate our understanding of number 3.

We have noticed lots of children in Wrens are struggling to peel their fruit at snack time. It is tricky! Particularly opening a banana, and peeling a tangerine. It would be great if you could please practice this at home with your child. Give them a start with the tangerine and see if they can peel the rest of the fruit. Apples are proving to be a real favourite with the class, as they are nice and easy!

Have a lovely half term break, we hope you all get a chance to play and relax.

We look forward to seeing you next week!
