.Breathe Mindfulness Tuesday 5th November 2024

On Tuesday, we had the first of our four mindfulness sessions with our visitor, Neelam, from the Sadie Centre.  In this week’s fascinating session, he taught us how the brain is like a puppy – it runs about all over the place – so we need to train it to be calm.  This week we started with calm breathing (in and out slowly through the nose) with our feet planted firmly on the ground and focused on the sensation in our feet.  We had to use:

  • patience
  • kindness
  • determination

If our minds started to wander, we brought our attention back to our feet and our breath.  This technique can help us to develop our skills for concentrating as well as helping us to feel calm.
