Cooking was a success this week as Owls followed recipes to make 3 different pasta sauces – tomato, roasted red pepper and pesto. After cutting and preparing the ingredients carefully, the children were all involved in frying, boiling, roasting or blending before we mixed the sauces with gluten-free pasta. Everyone was very enthusiastic about tasting the sauces – you would think they had not been fed for a week! The roasted red pepper sauce was very popular but most children found the pesto sauce a bit too strong. It was great to hear one child saying “I didn’t think I like onions but I really like them cooked like this”.
