In our English lessons, we have been exploring non-fiction books to help us learn how to retrieve information effectively. We’ve focused on using information texts to research sharks, and we’ve discovered how the features of a non-fiction book, such as headings, sub-headings, and indexes, guide us in finding relevant details quickly. These features help us identify key sections and organise the information clearly. We’ve also learnt how to use mind maps to organise our notes with key words under different sub-headings, which helps us understand and remember important facts.
