In our science lesson this week, Swifts explored animal adaptations by studying how prey use their bodies and behaviours to avoid predators. The children recalled the food chains they had created previously, focusing on the roles of predator and prey. They learnt about how prey, like moths, adapt to survive, with camouflage being a key example. The class then conducted an experiment to test if camouflage helps prey blend into their environment. Each child created two moths with different colours and textures and tested them in our orchard outside. The children compared how well the moths blended into the environment and discussed their findings using descriptive language. They finished by writing sentences to summarise their results and conclusions.
