Sports Day And More

As our time in Wrens is drawing to a close we have applied our learning in Physical Development and in Personal, Social and Emotional Development to participating in Sports Day.  Mrs Cruise was so proud of the way we embodied the Pirton School Rules and 6R’s when we participated.  Of course it was lots of fun too, especially running with our younger siblings and cheering for our grown-ups.

Another highlight of our week has been learning about mapping in maths, drawing maps of our journeys to school and using Google Street View to explore Pirton.

We have continued our learning about growing and changing by thinking about the life cycle of ducks, reading The Odd Egg in drawing club and listening to the traditional tale, The Ugly Duckling.  Next week we will think about how we have grown and changed, and how we will continue to change as we grow.

We use our phonics skills in our writing during drawing club and  early morning writing. Mrs Cruise is thrilled by how many of us can independently write sentences, some of them really long!  She is also pleased that lots of us have gone up a level with our reading books this week too.  She has put our new books and corresponding games on Bug Club so we can access them and keep practising over the summer holiday.

Finally, on Friday we had a visit from two librarians based at Hitchin library.  They told us all about the library and about the summer reading challenge, which starts tomorrow.  We are looking forward to signing up.  See the bookmarks we brought home for further details.

We also brought our reports home today, we hope you enjoy reading them!
