We had a wonderful trip to Pirton Church to meet Reverend Mary and learn more about the Christmas Story.
We got to go upstairs in Church, which was very exciting! Reverend Mary used happyland characters to tell the Christmas story and we joined in. We especially enjoyed knock knock knocking on all the inn doors! One of us got to wear a special hat to be the grumpy King Herod, and some of us held baby Jesus. We asked wonderful, thoughtful questions which kept Reverend Mary on her toes – my favourite question of the afternoon came from Harry who asked “Who is God?”.
After the story we had a lovely ‘Play & Learn’ time in Church. We worked together using mega blocks to build the stable where baby Jesus was born, and we drew pictures of the nativity scene.
Before we walked back to school Reverend Mary showed us the organ a very special musical instrument with “big golden pipes”, which we have been discussing in school.
Well done Wrens you were all brilliant and it was a lovely afternoon! Thank you to our super reading volunteers David, Mandy and Gill who joined us, and a big thank you to Reverend Mary for a very special afternoon.
Miss Bates 🙂
